DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, June 23, 2025 – 1inch today announces Unite DeFi, a global online hackathon taking place between 25 July - 6 August. The event, hosted with ETHGlobal, offers up to $525,000 in bounties for developers to build interoperability and unlock new DeFi possibilities using 1inch’s technology, including Cross-chain Swaps and Limit Orders.
Despite billions of dollars in innovation, DeFi can still feel like a maze. Major chains are still incompatible; wallets and dApps don’t integrate; and every action can feel like starting over.
1inch, the leading DeFi aggregator powering billions in on-chain and cross-chain trades, is changing that. The Unite DeFi hackathon is an open call to developers around the world to realize the real potential of DeFi - as a seamless ecosystem that works for users.
The hackathon is structured around three distinct tracks:
Track 1: We're looking for teams to build implementations of 1inch Cross-chain Swap (Fusion+) on chains like Sui, Tron, NEAR, Aptos, Cosmos, Stellar or Bitcoin, advancing DeFi interoperability based on our white paper and github
Track 2: Produce innovative hooks and extensions to expand the 1inch Limit Order Protocol, unlocking simple and advanced trading strategies such as derivatives
Track 3: Build a complete application using 1inch APIs to help shape the future of DeFi, through innovative, user-focused solutions powered by the 1inch ecosystem
Entrants will present their projects to a panel of top Web3 developers and leaders, competing for a share of $525,000 worth of bounties, divided between the three project tracks.

The timing is deliberate. With Ethereum’s recent upgrades reducing costs across rollups and modularity becoming standard, all eyes are now on the user experience. The community is beginning to agree that composability isn’t just a dev term, it’s the path to real adoption.
Selected projects from the hackathon won’t just win prizes but also have the opportunity to plug into the 1inch ecosystem, which powers billions in volume and reaches millions of users across the globe.
And launching this initiative in partnership with ETHGlobal has a particular significance for 1inch’s founders - who built the prototype of their own aggregator at an ETHGlobal hackathon back in 2019.
